Hundreds of people flocked onto the streets with national flags to celebrate Vietnam's win against Syria in the quarterfinal of 2018 Asian Games last night.

The streets to Hanoi's centre crowded with people cheering and waving the flags of Vietnam as well as the flags with coach Park Hang Seo images.




After the match ended, many people on the pedestrianised Nguyen Hue Street in HCM City also started celebrating and flocking out to the streets to the city centre such as Nguyen Thi Minh Khai and Le Duan.

Meanwhile, fans in Hai Phong and Danang cities also lit up firecrackers and many streets were jammed. Some streets in Danang were unmovable. Police were sent out to regulate traffic in Gia Lai Province's Pleiku City as many people were out on the streets to celebrate despite the rain.

Nguyen Van Hanh, a fan in Nghe An Province's Vinh City, said, "This was a tough win because Syrian players are very physical. But thanks to coach Park that we had an amazing match. Congratulations.

 




In Thanh Hoa and Vinh cities

The only goal was scored in the 108th minute by Van Toan. Vietnam will meet South Korea in the semi-finals at 4 pm. on August 29. This is the first time Vietnam have qualified for the Asian Games semi-finals.
