Vietnam will compete at the Asian Fencing Championships, which will kick off in Hong Kong on June 15.
More than 300 athletes, 18 Vietnamese, representing nearly 30 countries in 12 events including both men’s and women’s individual and team divisions.
Vietnam sent their strongest competitors such as Olympians Vu Thanh An (men’s sabre) and Do Thi Anh (women’s foil) and Southeast Asian Games winner Nguyen Thi Hoai Thu (women’s foil) and Nguyen Thi Nhu Hoa (women’s epee) to Hong Kong’s AsiaWorld-Expo Station, Chek Lap Kok Island.
The tournament will end June 20.
Last year in China, An won a bronze in the individual event. Together with three other teammates he pocketed a bronze in the team class. Vietnam ranked sixth in the medal tally.
The Championships is organised by the Asian Fencing Confederation for the Asia-Oceania zone. The annual tournament awards points for the Fencing World Cup.
