Update news Fertility rates
A prolonged low birth rate is forecast to directly impact the size and structure of the population, leading to consequences suchas labourer shortages, rapid population aging, and population decline.
For the third consecutive year, Vietnam’s birth rate has declined rapidly, reaching an unprecedented low of 1.91 children per woman in 2024, according to the Ministry of Health.
Fertility rates over the past two years increased across many localities in Vietnam, and it was even higher than the total replacement birth rate, said Director General of the General Department of Population and Family Planning Nguyen Doan Tu.
