A Philippine man on a Greek-flagged ship has been rescued and transported to central Da Nang city’s Hoan My hospital after suffering a heart attack on the way to China from Singapore.

According to the Da Nang-based Maritime Co-ordination and Rescue Centre, it received a call for help from the captain of ship Leonidas on the afternoon of February 28.

A rescue ship and a team of doctors were sent to give first aid to the victim, named Guerrero Rosmeni Nedia, before carrying him to the mainland on the late night of the same day.

Earlier this year, a crew member on the Liberian-flagged Maribor was rescued after suffering a stroke, also on the way from Singapore to China.

In 2016, the centre saved Wang Xiaogang, a Chinese seaman, off the coast of Quang Ngai province after he suffered stomach pains on a cargo ship.

In 2015, an Indian cargo ship captain, Chatterjee Tuhindra Nath, was taken to Da Nang after a heart attack at sea.-VNA
