A woman and her six-year-old son were killed in a fire that broke out in their clothing store in Binh Phuoc Province on Wednesday.

 Firefighters in front of the clothing store burned down in a fire that killed a mother and son in Binh Phuoc Province on Wednesday.

The blaze reportedly occurred at around 1am, engulfing Thuy Trinh store in the Dong Xoai night market with a family of four trapped inside. The store had three electrical doors, all of which were shut tight and could not be opened as the power tripped. 

Hearing screams for help, neighbours rushed across and managed to open a door, helping Tran The Tam, 41, come out with his three-year- old daughter in his arms. 

However, his wife Tran Thi Thuy, 34, and their six-year-old son Tran The Long were trapped deep inside and could not escape. 

Preliminary investigations show that the fire was probably triggered by an electrical fault.
