Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang and his spouse arrived in Dhaka at 16:00 on March 4 (local time), starting a three-day State visit to Bangladesh.
President Quang and his spouse were greeted by Bangladeshi President Mohammad Abdul Hamid with a 21-gun salute during an official welcome ceremony at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The staff of the Embassy of Vietnam in Bangladesh were also present at the welcome ceremony.
The visit takes place at a time when Vietnam and Bangladesh are celebrating the 45th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties. It affirms Vietnam’s consistent external policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification of foreign relations, including the long-standing friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Bangladesh.
The visit is expected to blow a breath of fresh air into bilateral economic and trade relations. With many potential for cooperation in the fields of agriculture, pharmaceuticals and electronics, the two sides are striving to achieve the target of more than 1 billion USD in two-way trade.
Earlier the same day, President Tran Dai Quang wrapped up his three-day State visit to India. He sent a message of thanks to Indian President Ram Nath Kovind, appreciating the warm welcome and sentiments the President, senior leaders and people of India have extended to him and the Vietnamese delegation.
