Before beginning the meeting, the Party Central Committee (PCC) observed one minute’s silence to remember former Party General Secretary Do Muoi and Politburo member - President Tran Dai Quang, who passed away recently.
Following the opening remark of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Politburo member and permanent member of the PCC Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong presented the meeting’s working programme.
Politburo member and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc delivered a report of the Government’s Party Committee on the socio-economic situation and State budget in 2018, along with socio-economic development plans and State Budget estimates for 2019.
Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh read the Politburo’s report summing up the 10-year implementation of the resolution of the 10th PCC’s 4th plenum on the Vietnam Maritime Strategy to 2020.
The PCC also heard a document of the Politburo on regulations on the responsibility to set example of officials and Party members, first of all members of the Politburo, the PCC Secretariat and the PCC, presented by Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member and head of the PCC’s Commission for Organisation.
Chinh also delivered a statement of the Politburo on the establishment of sub-committees to prepare for the 13th National Party Congress.
In the afternoon, the PCC worked in group, discussing the country’s socio-economic situation and State budget in 2018 and plans for next year.
