The first ever world Vietnamese traditional martial art championship will take place in HCM City from July 26-29 at the Phu Tho Gymnasium, HCM City, according to Hoang Vinh Giang, Chairman of the World Federation of Vietnamese Traditional Martial Arts (WFVV).

The championships will see the participation of nearly 250 martial artists of 50 delegations from 27 countries and territories, including France, Germany, Spain, Australia, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia.

The competition, which is expected to become a biannual event, includes five different combat and performance events, a performance of Tai Chi Chuan, and will award 52 sets of medals.

The championship, which are organised by the WFVV in collaboration with HCM City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, aims to introduce the Vietnamese martial arts and encourage people to train in the sports, said Giang.
