After six decades of competing in the Olympics, Vietnam boasts its first ever gold medal thanks to shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh who won the men's 10m air pistol at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Taekwondo athlete Tran Hieu Ngan became the first Vietnamese Olympic medalist after bagging the silver medal in the women's 57 weight class event in the Olympic Sydney on September 29, 2000.








Weightlifter Thach Kim Tuan won another silver medal in the men's 56 weight class event in the Olympics Beijing on August 10, 2008.







The Vietnam's flag was raised during the opening cerenomy of the Olympics Moscow on July 19, 1980,  marking Vietnam's first sport delegation to an Olympics event after the nation's reunification







The sport delegation of the South of Vietnam attended Olympics on July 19, 1952.
