The laboratory announced the results on Thursday.
Initial test samples from six Vietnamese athletes who participated in the 31st SEA Games came back positive for doping in September. And five of them had asked for the second test in Thailand.
All of them are track-and-field athletes including four females who won gold medals and a bronze-medal male winner at the region’s largest sporting event.
The athletes' identities are expected to be announced by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
The names of these athletes have been removed from a list to prepare for ASIAD 2023 and Summer Olympics 2024. When publically confirmed they would have their medals stripped and subsequently face a long-term ban.
Vietnam hosted SEA Games 31 from May 12 to 23, featuring 40 sports with the participation of more than 10,000 athletes, officials, and referees from 11 Southeast Asian countries. The hosts topped the medal tally with 205 gold, 125 silver, and 116 bronze medals.
