According to a report from the Central Vietnam Airport Authority, the incident occurred on the VN186 flight departing Danang for Hanoi on Tuesday evening. A passenger asked another where he kept the guns and the other replied that he had put them in his luggage. Hearing their talks, an attendant came to ask about the guns they were talking about. The two passengers told her that they were just joking.
The attendant, however, still reported the conversation to the captain who decided to call security to check all the luggage and passengers. They found no guns or other weapons.
The flight then departed at 9.50 pm, two hours and 25 minutes later than scheduled. The two passengers were refused boarding on the flight.
The Central Vietnam Airport Authority said that they reported the incident to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and the two passengers may face punishment including a flight ban for threatening flight security.
