Among the four carriers (Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet, Jetstar Pacific and VASCO), low-cost airlines Vietjet and Jetstar Pacfic recorded a year-on-year fall of 1.1 point in delays, accounting for 16.4 percent and 19.5 percent of total flights, respectively.

However, the rate of cancelled flights of Vietjet remained unchanged at 0.3 percent in the reviewed period, while that of Jetstar Pacific at 1.3 percent, an increase of 0.6 point.

The national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines, also saw an increase in delays and cancellations by 2 and 0.1 points, respectively, from the same period last year, or 16.1 percent and 0.7 percent of its total flights.

The newcomer VASCO reported the delay and cancellation rates of 16.1 percent and 0.7 percent, up 0.6 point and 0.2 point, respectively.

According to CAAV, Vietnamese carriers conducted more than 228,000 flights in the 11 months of this year, up nearly 37,000 flights year-on-year. The rate of delays and cancellations increased by 0.8 point, much lower than the growth of flights.

The airlines have made numerous efforts to better serve their passengers by reducing the rate of delays and cancellations in the context of airports’ limited infrastructure, particularly at the Tan Son Nhat international airport.-VNA
