Foreign airlines are rolling up their sleeves to launch new services to Vietnam this summer.

Turkish Airlines will conduct direct flights from Istanbul to HCMC and Hanoi and vice versa on June 27, with five flights per week. Of the total, three services will connect to HCMC and the remainder to Hanoi.

The airline plans to increase the number of flights to seven per week at the end of October.

Air New Zealand will fly three times a week between HCMC and Auckland from next month.

Earlier, Bangkok Airway said it will start its Bangkok-Danang service on May 25. The Thai airline will conduct four weekly flights between the two destinations on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. 

Besides more flights to HCMC, Hanoi and Danang, a number of foreign airlines have plans to offer services to tourist attractions in Vietnam.

Airport Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) said Phu Quoc International Airport has worked with China Southern Airlines over a plan to open the Guangzhou-Phu Quoc route to meet increasing demand of Chinese tourists for visiting Phu Quoc Island off mainland Kien Giang Province.

The airline is expected to commence its Guangzhou-Phu Quoc service in July with three weekly flights on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The airline will use Boeing B738 and Airbus A320 aircraft for the route.

Vietnam’s budget carrier Jetstar Pacific looks to launch a new air route linking Haiphong and China after a new passenger terminal and runway at Cat Bi airport in the northern city are put into use on May 12.

Travel firm Vietravel plans two chartered flights every month between Vinh and Bangkok with two flights from June to August.
