A couple from India booked an entire luxury resort in Da Nang to organize their wedding which took place on January 19-21. About one ton of materials and fashionable clothes were carried from India to Da Nang to serve the ceremony with 500 guests. All the 258 rooms at Sheraton Grand Da Nang were booked for the attendees of the wedding and a many workers were mobilized to serve the event.
David Ippersiel, general manager of the hotel, said to organize large-scale events, the hotel has to satisfy strict requirements facilities. The novelty and reputation of the destination are also important factors considered by brides’ families..
Though the direct route that links India and Da Nang has been suspended, Indians still want to organize important events in their lives in Da Nang. They take flights with transit points in Singapore or Kuala Lumpur.
According to the Da Nang Tourism Department, this was the first group of travelers coming to Da Nang to attend wedding ceremony this year.
The congratulations on the wedding was displayed on the LED screen installed in the entry area. The tourism department joined forces with agencies at Da Nang Airport to create favorable conditions for the guests to get customs clearance and fulfill administrative procedures.
The guests were also given presents, flowers and souvenirs. The greetings from the municipal authorities was conveyed to the bride Kashmira and bridegroom Inderdeep. Also, the wedding attendants were welcomed with Vietnamese traditional art performance.
According to the Da Nang Tourism Department, five more wedding ceremonies of Indian couples will be organized in Da Nang in upcoming months. There will be parties for 200-350 guests, and the events are scheduled to last 3-5 days.
“This is good news for the development of Da Nang’s ‘wedding tourism’, a completely new tourism product in Vietnam,” said Nguyen Thi Hoai An, deputy director of the DaNang Tourism Department.
An said that the events show that municipal authorities were right when applying policies to attract couples to organize weddings. The city has recently received many couples from India, Hong Kong and Singapore.
It is collecting opinions and surveying the tastes of couples as part of a plan to develop wedding tourism and position Da Nang as the ‘origin of happiness’.
The findings from the survey will help Da Nang develop products for the plan for wedding tourism in 2023-2025.
The tourism department is working with other parties to prepare content and resources for a pilot program to attract guests to attend wedding events regularly.
In 2024, the agency will organize tourism promotions to attract more travelers to the city. India will be the focus. The tourism department will attend SATTE trade fair in India, and invite Indian wedding planners to Da Nang to survey the site and experience wedding infrastructure items in Da Nang.
Da Nang tourism sector attended SATTE 2023 with 1,400 booths to introduce traditional and new tourism products.
Da Nang authorities reported that the total number of travelers coming to the city to attend wedding events in the first nine months of 2023 reached 25,000-30,000.
Wedding tourism is a new tourism product still in the early stage of development. The city has a great network of high-end accommodation facilities and resorts, managed by the world’s leading management brands. It is also the home of beautiful beaches, luxurious private wedding party spaces, diverse food and professional services.
Our survey has found that demand for this tourism is high, while DaNang is quite capable of satisfying very strict requirements. The accommodation facilities there have served couples from Asian countries and western countries.
The municipal authorities have also promised to support the organization of wedding parties, including entry/exit procedures, welcoming activities, consultancy and presents.
