Many groups of international tourists were waiting on the streets of Hanoi, hoping to get a glimpse of the vehicles carrying United States President Donald Trump and Chairman of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong-un, some for up to two hours.
Hundreds of people, both local and foreign, lined the streets around the Metropole hotel on the afternoon of February 27. A group of foreign tourists including Iris Kroeze, from the Netherlands, Antonia Bernard, from Germany, and David Valley, from the US, (L-R) hope to see the state leaders on their trip to Hanoi. Eric Ferret, 46, has lived in Vietnam for 8 years. He decided to sit on Trang Tien Street followed nearly 2 hours of strolling around the Metropole hotel. Most tourists in the area spent time to take photographs and videos of the bustling atmosphere on the streets of Hanoi. A group of French tourists try to find good place to observe among the crowd. Many tourists patiently wait to see DPRK Chairman Kim Jong-un on Ly Thuong Kiet Street. Two German visitors say they don’t feel tired among the waiting crowds. Margaret and Mark, from Australia, say they arrived in Hanoi from Sapa and feels surprised at the level of security forces on show in Hanoi.
