On the last days of the Year of Rooster, Nam wrote an article and shared images of a friends who returned from overseas to settle down in Vietnam.

“The man sitting next to me is an experienced aviation engineer who returned from Paris two weeks ago after finding a new ‘enlightened king’. In front of me is the young girl who once studied in the US and is now running her business on Duy Tan street,” he wrote.

“Here is an 8X from Canada Big4, and this is a 7X repatriate who has reaped big fruits in Vietnam. He is willing to share his thoughts about challenges and opportunities with 9X people who want to come back to Vietnam to ‘build cosy nests’,” he continued.

‘Viet Bird Flock’ was the title of the story written by Nam. These returnees were the initial achievement of the ‘calling birds back to the nest’ program initiated by Nam.

“I believe there are great opportunities here in Vietnam, because there are so many problems that need to be solved, including in healthcare, education and agriculture. The problems cannot be settled because of the lack of talented people,” Nam said.

“It is a pity that many Vietnamese talents have left the country,” he explained.

He said that it was much easier to start up a business in Vietnam than in other countries.

“I believe there are many opportunities in Vietnam. It is very difficult to start up a business in the US. This is a very competitive market,” he said. 

“Many large businesses in Vietnam are founded by owners who graduated from overseas schools,” he continued. “We have successfully called some Vietnamese talents to return to Vietnam. But the results remain modest.”

Le Phuoc Vu, chair of Hoa Sen Group, agrees that there are many opportunities in Vietnam to exploit.

“In Australia, US and Japan, everyone has to work hard to have good lives. It is not easy to become a millionaire in the US. In Vietnam, business opportunities are numerous,” he said.

Vu said there are problems in Vietnam which affect the investment environment, but there are always two sides of the coin.
