A student who once took on the role of chairing a mock Children’s Parliament session has continued to make his mark academically after achieving one of the highest scores in the entrance examination for Luong The Vinh High School for the Gifted in Dong Nai Province.
A passion for English and independent learning
The 2026-2027 Grade 10 entrance examination in Dong Nai produced several standout candidates, among them Le Gia Vinh, a ninth-grade student from Hung Vuong Secondary School in Trang Bom Ward.
Vinh ranked among the five highest-scoring candidates admitted to the school’s specialised English programme.

In addition to his academic achievements, Vinh is known as a well-rounded student who once assumed the role of “National Assembly Chair” during a simulated Children’s Parliament session.
Speaking to VietNamNet, Vinh said his success was the result of consistent effort and a genuine love for English.
“English is not just a school subject. It is a tool that helps me access knowledge and broaden my understanding of the world. I spend a lot of time listening, reading foreign-language materials and taking part in competitions to improve my skills,” he said.

Throughout his secondary school years, Vinh consistently delivered strong performances in English, particularly in the Internet-based English Olympiad (IOE).
In the 2023-2024 academic year, he won second prize at the provincial level. During the 2024-2025 school year, he earned first prize at the local level and a national consolation prize. In 2025-2026, he continued his success with first prize at school level, third prize at district level and another national consolation award.
“I never put pressure on myself to win top prizes. I simply try to improve every day. Every competition teaches me something new and helps me become a better version of myself,” Vinh said.

Tran Thi Quynh, Vinh’s mother, said her son had always been highly self-disciplined.
The family focused on creating a supportive environment rather than pressuring him to achieve specific results.
“Vinh is very proactive, especially when it comes to learning languages. He regularly watches English-language programmes, reads books and searches for learning materials on his own. We simply provide guidance and encouragement. He manages his studies independently,” she said.
According to Quynh, what makes the family most proud is not only his academic record but also his confidence, leadership and sense of responsibility.
“When I saw him standing in front of a large audience and leading a mock parliamentary session, I was deeply moved by how much he had matured,” she added.

In the entrance examination for Luong The Vinh High School for the Gifted, Vinh achieved a total score of 42.95 points.
His individual results included 9 points in Mathematics, a perfect 10 in English, 8.75 in Literature and 7.6 in the specialised subject examination.
The result placed him among the highest-scoring candidates admitted to the school’s English specialist class.
Vinh credited his success to a learning approach centred largely on self-study rather than private tutoring.
Hoang Thi Tra Giang, principal of Hung Vuong Secondary School, described him as one of the school’s most outstanding students and a model of all-round development.
“Vinh is not only academically gifted but also energetic, confident and capable of leadership. He actively participates in school and community activities. His English ability is particularly impressive, as demonstrated through both competitions and classroom performance,” Giang said.
She added that his achievements reflected his personal determination, strong family support and effective guidance from the school.
“We hope he will continue reaching new heights and remain a role model for students in this new era,” she said.
