Former England defender Joleon Lescott took part in an exchange with hundreds of children in the SOS Children's Villages International for Vietnam in Hanoi.
Lescott, a former Man City defender, brought the Premier League trophy and Carabao Cup to the SOS Children's Villages International for Vietnam on September 15 as part of a cooperation programme between Saigon Hanoi Commercial Bank (SHB) and the current holders of the trophies, Manchester City FC.
Lescott receives a warm welcome from a crowd of children in the village. The former international player is happy to meet the children. He is eager to shake hands, take photographs and give autographs.
The appearance of Lescott draws a lot of attention from the local media. The retired pro says he is happy to visit Vietnam and is surprised at the enthusiasm of Vietnamese supporters, especially children, towards football. The two cups currently held by Manchester City FC are also present at the event. Art performances by children in the village welcome the famous player. Lescott says he is impressed with the young Vietnamese supporters and would like to come back to Vietnam one day.
Ninh Thi Lan Phuong, deputy general director of SHB, hopes that the event jointly held by SHB and Manchester City FC would be a source of encouragement for the children in the village, giving them the confidence to follow their dreams. |
