The four men rescued from being sold to the fishing boat

The four men are Nguyen Van Huy Tam and Le Huu Thanh from An Giang Province, Son Thuong from Bac Lieu Province and Pham Van Canh from Vinh Long Province.

Early November this year, they came to HCM City to look for jobs. At An Suong Station, some motorbike drivers said that they could introduce the men good jobs with high salary. After being transported to Vung Tau City, each of them was required to pay the transport fee of VND3 million (USD136.3).

However, they did not have enough money for the payment, so a woman named Nguyen Thi Van and a man named Tran Van Vu lent them the money and forced them to sign a loan payment.

After that they were locked in a small room.

On December 3, Vu and Van handed over the four men to Nguyen Ngoc Trung who took them to Danang. Each of them was sold to Tran The Tay with the price of VND15 million (USD681.8). They was taken on board fishing boat BV5969TS to repay their supposed debts.

Working on the boat for more than 10 days, they was not paid and were beaten by the boat owner. On December 16, they pretended to go ashore to visit a nearby pagoda. At the pagoda, they were given VND100,000 (USD5.7) by a nun and then called a taxi and asked the local people for help.
