250 cyclists to compete in race
More than 250 amateur cyclists from 32 clubs nationwide will compete in a bicycle race in the central city on January 2 and 3.
The city's culture, sports and tourism department said the cyclists would compete in a 38km race from Nam Van ring road till the foot of the Ba Na Hills Mountain resort on Saturday morning.
The cyclists will then compete in a tough 9.1km race till the Hai Van Pass, located 500m above the sea level, on Sunday.
It's the first time a bicycle race is being held at the pass, which is a favourite destination of off-road adventurers.
The 24km pass, which is the only road that allows tankers and adventurers to travel between Da Nang and Hue since the Hai Van tunnel became operational in 2005, hosts 1,000 visitors who come on bikes and in vans per day.
Last year, the race was held on Mount Ban Co, located 573m above the sea level, in Son Tra Peninsula.
