Since 2024, FPT has identified five strategic development pillars: Artificial Intelligence, Semiconductors, Digital Automotive Technologies, Digital Transformation, and Green Transformation. Among these priorities, artificial intelligence plays a central role, guiding the corporation’s long-term innovation and technology strategy.

The conference was co-organized by Swinburne Vietnam, an international education partnership between Swinburne University of Technology (Australia) and FPT University. Swinburne University of Technology is ranked among the top 300 universities worldwide in the QS Rankings 2026.

Positioned as the “University of Success,” Swinburne Vietnam aims to build an innovative education ecosystem centered on technology, creativity, and industry relevance. The institution offers students an international learning environment where academic programs are closely connected with real-world business and technological practices.

A platform for global AI research and collaboration

One of the highlights of ICIIT 2026 was a series of keynote presentations delivered by leading international researchers, focusing on cutting-edge developments in artificial intelligence and intelligent systems.

Professor Leandro Soares Indrusiak from the University of Leeds in the UK presented a keynote titled “AI Support for Performance-Critical Embedded Systems.” His talk examined how artificial intelligence can optimize embedded systems operating in environments that demand high precision and performance, such as robotics, industrial equipment, and real-time control systems.

According to Professor Soares, AI has the potential to significantly enhance system optimization in these environments. “AI support for performance-critical embedded systems can open up highly promising research directions and significantly improve operational efficiency,” he said.

Another keynote speaker, Associate Professor Chee-Kong Chui from the National University of Singapore, delivered a presentation titled “Edge Intelligence for Distributed Control: Enabling Real-Time, AI-Driven Chemical Production Systems.”

His talk explored how industries are transitioning from traditional Cyber-Physical Systems toward human-centered smart manufacturing models. In such systems, AI is deployed directly at the network edge, enabling real-time data processing and faster decision-making in complex production environments. This approach enhances automation while maintaining human oversight in industrial processes.

Industry perspectives on AI adoption

Beyond academic discussions, the conference also highlighted practical perspectives from industry leaders, particularly within the FPT technology ecosystem.

Pham Dang Khoi, Chief Technology Officer of Long Chau Pharmaceutical Retail, shared insights in a presentation titled “Applying AI to Create an Excellent Customer Experience in Healthcare Services: The Case of Long Chau Pharmaceutical Retail.”

In his presentation, Khoi explained how Long Chau is transforming from a traditional pharmaceutical retail chain into a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem powered by digital technologies.

Artificial intelligence plays a central role in this transformation. The company’s AI strategy focuses on three main pillars: empowering employees with intelligent digital tools, personalizing healthcare services and customer experiences, and developing advanced analytics solutions to support operational and strategic decision-making.

By integrating AI into both customer-facing services and internal operations, Long Chau aims to improve healthcare accessibility while enhancing service quality and operational efficiency.

Another notable industry-focused presentation was delivered by Dr. Tran The Hung, Director of the Decision Intelligence & Optimization Lab at the Quantum AI & Cyber Security Research Institute (QACI) of FPT Group.

In his talk titled “Applied AI and Big Data: Driving Intelligent Decision-Making in Industry,” Dr. Hung discussed how organizations can move beyond traditional analytics toward a more comprehensive decision intelligence framework.

He emphasized that while artificial intelligence, optimization methods, and data analytics provide powerful technological tools, they are not sufficient on their own to guarantee optimal business decisions.

Instead, organizations must focus on transforming raw data into actionable insights capable of guiding both strategic and operational choices. “What businesses truly need is decision intelligence - the ability to turn raw data into actionable insights that support smarter decision-making,” Dr. Hung said.

Expanding the global dialogue on intelligent technologies

In addition to keynote presentations, ICIIT 2026 featured multiple parallel technical sessions where researchers presented their latest studies and findings. These sessions provided opportunities for deeper academic discussion and collaboration among scholars from different countries and disciplines.

Topics covered included AI and machine learning applications for smart systems and automation, IoT and smart systems for industrial applications, blockchain and security technologies, advanced computational methods in energy and environmental systems, intelligent systems and AI-driven healthcare technologies, and data analysis and computational models in modern information systems.
