G42, a technology group based in Abu Dhabi (UAE) along with the FPT and Viet Thai Group consortium have established a strategic partnership through a Framework Cooperation Agreement to develop sovereign AI capabilities and cloud computing infrastructure in Vietnam.
This agreement is a strategic step to formalize a comprehensive partnership, creating a legal, financial, and management framework to deploy the project on a national scale.
The partners expressed strong support for the Vietnamese Government's vision in perfecting the legal corridor, creating a premise for the development of hyperscale data centers and public cloud computing, and affirming Vietnam's position as a regional leader in AI infrastructure development.
With an investment commitment of up to $1 billion based on consumption levels, the cooperation marks an important milestone in the digital transformation journey of Vietnam and the region.
This tripartite partnership brings together superior overall resources, creating a solid foundation to deploy the national-scale project.
FPT Corporation contributes extensive technical capacity and local market understanding as the largest IT services enterprise in Vietnam with an operational network in over 30 countries.
Viet Thai Group is a leading consumer group with a portfolio spanning from coffee, food and beverage services, and retail to logistics, with strengths in strategic capacity and multi-industry perspectives.
The cooperation is elevated by world-class AI infrastructure capabilities from G42 - a multi-industry AI group based in Abu Dhabi.
According to the agreement, the parties will deploy large-scale cloud computing infrastructure at three key data centers in Vietnam, providing high-performance AI and cloud services to support system operations for both the public and private sectors.
This initiative is consistent with G42's mission to build a global and inclusive Intelligence Network. This network connects advanced AI infrastructure, cloud computing platforms, and governance frameworks to provide AI capabilities on demand while respecting the sovereignty of each nation.
Through this infrastructure, Vietnam will possess a solid technical foundation to deploy national AI initiatives in the public and private sectors, thereby digitizing services and applying AI solutions tailored to the country's priority goals.
“This Framework Agreement represents a new approach to national AI transformation, a model built on sovereignty, partnerships, and strategic objectives. We sincerely thank the Vietnamese government for its visionary leadership, as well as our partners FPT and Viet Thai Group for their commitment to building infrastructure that enables Vietnam to fully harness AI’s potential while safeguarding national data sovereignty and digital independence,” said Ali Al Amine, chief commercial officer of G42 International.
“Vietnam clearly recognizes that we cannot move forward alone. In the fields such as semiconductors, AI, cloud computing, big data, and cybersecurity, we need strategic alliances with trusted partners. Leaders have demonstrated strong commitment and built mutual trust, and now is the time to turn those commitments into concrete actions and implementation,” said Truong Gia Binh, president of FPT Corporation.
David Thai, chair and chief executive officer of Viet Thai Group, said: “This initiative helps Vietnam secure a leading position in the development of an AI-based economy in Asia, contributing to economic growth and the expansion of the domestic middle class. Our cooperation with G42 and FPT will lay a solid infrastructure foundation for long-term growth as well as innovation across multiple sectors.
“Beyond infrastructure development, this partnership also includes AI skills training and human resource development programs, aimed at promoting AI adoption across government agencies, the business community, and research and training institutions.”
Immediately following the signing of the Framework Agreement, the consortium and G42 will move into the next implementation phase, including finalizing the allocation of workloads between the public and private sectors, completing legal approval procedures for public cloud deployment, and beginning site preparation for data center infrastructure.
The initiative is expected to generate broad economic impact through direct investment in infrastructure, job creation, and by reinforcing Vietnam’s position as a strategic technology hub in the region.
