The Au Lac Grand Prize will be awarded over three consecutive years starting in 2026. It seeks to recognize AI products that create breakthroughs for socio-economic development and have lasting, positive impacts on the community.

Endorsed by the Au Lac AI Alliance, the award will be assessed by a panel of national and international experts, including leaders from academia, the tech industry, and scientific institutions. In addition to the monetary reward, winners will receive strategic mentorship and support to expand their influence both domestically and globally through partnerships with FPT and the alliance.

Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT, believes the Au Lac Grand Prize will inspire society-wide collaboration in AI development.

FPT’s announcement coincided with Vietnam’s National Day, marking 80 years since independence, and symbolizing a new frontier: technological sovereignty. “Eighty years ago, we reclaimed national sovereignty,” said Truong Gia Binh, FPT Chairman. “Now, through AI, we aim to secure technological sovereignty as a pillar of Vietnam’s digital era.”

He emphasized that the prize is not only a recognition of pioneering achievements in AI but also a call to action for scientists, businesses, and young innovators across Vietnam. “We hope the Au Lac Grand Prize becomes a symbol of creativity and contribution, elevating Vietnamese AI to global standards,” he said.

FPT has been a pioneer in AI development in Vietnam for more than a decade. It has identified AI as one of five core pillars of its long-term strategy, alongside semiconductors, automotive software, digital transformation, and green technology.

The company currently employs over 1,000 AI engineers and experts and operates two AI factories in collaboration with NVIDIA - one in Vietnam and another in Japan.

FPT’s AI applications have been deployed in education, healthcare, banking, commerce, and urban management, with hundreds of millions of monthly uses. These solutions have significantly enhanced quality of life, productivity, and business competitiveness.

In terms of education, FPT has established research partnerships with global institutions such as Mila and LandingAI, integrated AI into school curriculums from grade one, and introduced AI and robotics to general education.

So far, FPT has trained 1,700 students majoring in AI and aims to equip 500,000 individuals with AI skills by 2030.

In June 2025, responding to a call from General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, FPT initiated the establishment of the Au Lac AI Alliance.

This alliance brings together more than 20 leading tech corporations, research institutes, and universities. It embodies Vietnam’s ambition to master AI and become a global technology powerhouse.
