The French embassy and the French Development Agency (AFD) will provide a funding worth 120,000 EUR for a technical assistance project on assessing the status of the air environment in Hanoi.

To this effect, a contract on consultation provision for the project was signed between the municipal Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Air Parif Company and the Association of Air Surveillance in Ile de France region in Hanoi on September 5.

The signing followed a working session between visiting Minister of State for Development and Francophone Andre Vallini and Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung.

Vallini, who is accompanying French President Francois Hollande on an ongoing visit to Vietnam from September 5-7, said the visit will open up big opportunities for the two countries’ all-round cooperation, especially in socio-economic development.

The AFD expresses wish to cooperate with Hanoi in urban planning, sustainable development and global warming, he added.

Chung expressed thanks to the French government, the French embassy in Hanoi and especially Air Parif Company for helping the city with the air environment assessment project.

He also asked the French government to assist the city in the construction of an elevated railway line connecting Nhon in Tu Liem district and Hanoi railway station, part of which is built by French contractors.
