A special concert will take place in Ho Chi Minh City on October 29 with the participation of famous Vietnamese and French artists.

Soprano Pham Khanh Ngoc.

Contemporary music lovers will enjoy a song of late musician Nguyen Thien Dao, a popular name in the Vietnamese classical music for his novel combination of Asia-Europe music, at the beginning of the programme.

The song “Linh Giac” will be performed by soprano Pham Khanh Ngoc – who has recently won the second prize at the SLO-ASEAN Vocal Competition in Singapore .

Vietnamese violist Pham Vinh, who claimed early success in Europe, will return home to participate in the event. He won the first prize at the international violin contest “Tibor Varga” in Switzerland and international auditorium competition “G.B.Viotti” in Italy when he was only 15 years old. He is currently the artist of the Philharmonic Orchestra at the Opera Marseille House in France .

Especially, the Que Huong (Homeland) chorus of the Vietnamese community in France will join four Vietnamese opera artists and the Ensemble Polyphonique de Choisy-le-Roi of France in performing “Magnificant”, a well-known work of composer J.S.Bach.

Que Huong chorus was set up in 2009 with most of its members being overseas Vietnamese in France. They have great passion for Vietnamese lyrics and often perform at cultural events held by the Vietnamese Culture Centre in France.

In 2015, the group received certificates of merit from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in recognition of its efforts in promoting Vietnamese culture abroad.

It plans to debut a CD featuring songs about Vietnam’s seas and islands in December 2016.

The programme will be arranged by French conductor Laurent Boer.-VNA
