During a three-day visit to Vietnam on May 23-25, President Obama spent one hour having Bun Cha (Vietnamese grilled pork with rice vermicelli noodles) at Huong Lien restaurant in Hanoi with famous US chef Anthony Bourdain. The US president was warmly welcomed by numerous local residents. President Obama stopped at a local coffee shop on the way to Noi Bai International Airport. The US president talked with the shop owner and local people who were very pleased with his simplicity and hospitality. He visited Ngoc Hoang Pagoda in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. President Obama met leaders of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) and young Vietnamese entrepreneurs on May 25. During an official visit to Vietnam on September 5-7, President Hollande visited Hanoi’s old quarter, accompanying by (from left to right) French Ambassador to Vietnam, the Ambassador’s wife, and Prof. Ngo Bao Chau. The French President received warm welcome from Hanoians and tourists. Prince William Arthur Philip Louis, the Duke of Cambridge attended the third International Illegal Wildlife Trade Conference held in Hanoi, Vietnam in November. It was his first visit to the country. The Prince walked on Hanoi old quarter and drank water at a coffee pub on Lan Ong Street. Prince William talked with traditional medicine experts and representatives from non-governmental organizations during his visit to Vietnam. The Prince played football with pupils at Hong Ha Primary School on Lan Ong Street in Hanoi. |
