Pratibha Mehta, the United Nations’ Resident Coordinator and Development Programme Resident Representative in Vietnam, was presented a friendship order from the Vietnamese State in Hanoi on October 25 for her contributions to the ties between Vietnam and the UN.

At the ceremony, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung commended Pratibha Mehta on her dedicated services over the past five years, saying that the UN agencies and the UN Development Programme, under her coordination, have provided significant assistance for Vietnam’s socio-economic development. 

Trung wished the UN official all the best for her new mission in Tajikistan after leaving Vietnam, expressing his confidence that she will make active contributions to the central Asian nation’s socio-economic development. 

He hoped Pratibha Mehta, as a friend of Vietnam, will continue her supports for the country. 

Pratibha Mehta said she is honoured to receive the friendship order. 

She lauded socio-economic growth and integration achievements Vietnam has made as well as the Vietnamese Government’s active cooperation with the UN agencies. 

She said she will share initiatives and experience with Vietnam.-VNA
