VietNamNet Bridge – The Government discussed the draft project on streamlining administrative procedures, citizenship papers and database relevant to population management in the 2013-2020, at its regular meeting on April 26.

The overall objective of the project is to comprehensively renovate population management towards modernity, speed up application of information technology in processing administrative procedures, cutting administrative procedures and citizenship papers, and laying foundation for e-Government development.
According to the draft version, the project may be implemented in two stages with the first one from 2013 to 2014.
In the first stage, tasks include the systematization and review of administrative procedures, citizenship papers and database relevant to population management; suggestion of a roadmap for IT application in streamlining administrative procedures; reduction of citizenship; and finalization of legal framework for personal identification numbers.
Meanwhile, in the next stage, tasks consist of the completion of building technical infrastructure for national population database, the entering of basic personal information into the national population database.
The Ministry of Justice is assigned to collect comments on the draft project and finalize it before submitting to the Government for continued consideration.
