Gangwon FC of K-League will allow Vietnamese midfielder Luong Xuan Truong to play for U23 Việt Nam national team in the upcoming Southeast Asian Games to be held in Malaysia in August.
Luong Xuan Truong
This statement was confirmed in a meeting between a Viet Nam Football Federation (VFF) official and Gangwon’s director Jim My Cho.
Trường is a key player in Viet Nam team. He plays for Gangwon under an on loan contract from V.League club Hoang Anh Gia Lai.
The Games don’t belong to the FIFA’s competition system, so the clubs holding the registration of players called up to play are not obliged to release their players.
However, the VFF suggested that Gangwon allow Truong to participate in Viet Nam team national football training session in August.
Truong was called up to the national U19 team in 2013-14 season, the U23 team in 2015 and Viet Nam’s national team in 2016.
