A plan that called for private garbage collectors to modernise their vehicles has been delayed by HCM City authorities.
Residents of Viet Nam’s big cities have been separating their garbage for recycling for years, in both their houses and public areas. Children have been taught the difference between recycled and non-recycled waste.
HCMC has 2,000 kilometers of drainage canals, more than 100,000 manholes and 800 discharge outlets. However, uncontrolled littering has nearly neutralized the drainage system, according to the city’s environment department.
