Martyr Pham Hong Thai (1895-1924), originally from Hung Nhan Commune, now known as Chau Nhan Commune, Hung Nguyen District, Nghe An Province, was a patriotic Vietnamese soldier who sacrificed his life in Guangzhou on June 19, 1924.

Pham Hong Thai was tasked with assassinating the Governor-General of French Indochina, Henry Merlin, during his visit to the Sa Dien concession. When the mission failed, Pham Hong Thai took his own life by jumping into the Zhū Jiāng River to avoid capture by the enemy.

The "Sa Dien Bombing Incident" shocked China at the time and contributed to inspiring the rising national liberation movements across Asia. Out of respect and admiration for his spirit, the people of Guangzhou buried him on Nhi Vong Cuong Hill.

Following this, General Secretary and President To Lam, his spouse, and the Vietnamese delegation visited the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth League Headquarters at House No. 13, now Nos. 248 and 250, Wenming Road, Guangzhou City.

The delegation was moved as they viewed photos documenting the years of President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary activities in Guangzhou.

The Vietnam Revolutionary Youth League site is closely linked to President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary activities in Guangzhou from 1924 to 1927. The Vietnam Revolutionary Youth League, the precursor of the Communist Party of Vietnam, was founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc, who also established the "Thanh Nien" newspaper, the official publication of the League's Central Committee. At this site, Nguyen Ai Quoc held three political training courses, educating 75 Vietnamese revolutionary cadres.

In 1971, the house at No. 13 Wenming Road was preserved by the Chinese government as a memorial to President Ho Chi Minh, named the "Vietnam Revolutionary Youth League Headquarters." The site is managed by the Guangdong Revolutionary History Museum and has been recognized as a national cultural and historical site by China.

In 2002, the Guangzhou municipal government invested in comprehensive renovations of the site, which was inaugurated on the occasion of the 112th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth.

In 2024, on the centenary of President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary activities in Guangzhou, the site hosted the exhibition "Comrade Ho Chi Minh in Guangzhou," which vividly recounts the noble spirit and illustrious history of President Ho Chi Minh and highlights the revolutionary friendship between the Vietnamese and Chinese peoples.
