Applicants can make an online appointment for a visa interview with the Germany Embassy via VFS’s website at https://www.vfsglobal.com/Germany/Vietnam/, in English and Vietnamese, from February 20 in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and from March 25 in Da Nang.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of VFS’s Visa Application Center, on the 2nd floor of the Ocean Park Building, 1 Dao Duy Anh, in Hanoi on February 13, German Ambassador to Vietnam H.E. Christian Berger said: “The number of applications for Schengen visas filed in Vietnam has increased significantly and continuously over the years. The positive economic environment in the country and the high level of economic growth have created more and more business opportunities with foreign companies and promoted the travel needs of Vietnamese. In addition, Germany and Vietnam have had long-lasting and friendly connections with over 130,000 Vietnamese, many of whom live in eastern Germany.” He believes that demand for German visas among Vietnamese will continue to increase due to the ongoing positive outlook.

The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to transfer the receipt of applications for external visas to Germany to Visa Offices in the Asia region and around the world. Modern digital techniques will be applied to improve and shorten the time needed to complete procedures.

The opening of modern visa application centers in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang aims at improving the quality of services for visa applicants. VFS’s services cover all steps, from providing information on visa regulations to providing other advanced services such as tracking the status of applications via SMS, document translation, and courier services, to create the utmost convenience for applicants.

Applications for national-scale visas for stays of more than 90 days for the purpose of family reunification, university studies, work, or apprenticeships in Germany must still be submitted directly to the Germany Embassy. Visa applicants can make an online appointment for a visa interview via the website www.vietnam.diplo.de.
