Receiving Ryan McInerney, CEO of Visa, Chinh highly appreciated the firm’s long-term investment plan in Vietnam, expecting the firm would increase cooperation with relevant Vietnamese agencies, including the National Innovation Centre and the State Bank of Vietnam, to develop startup, digital transformation and innovation programmes.

He also asked Visa to deploy high-tech solutions to help people in different regions access financial services.

McInerney affirmed that Visa that has been operating in Vietnam for more than 20 years considers Vietnam one of the firm’s most important markets in the world.

Visa wants to engage more deeply in Vietnam’s innovation and digital transformation landscape as Vietnam is a dynamic economy that prioritises science – technology development and innovation, especially in electronic payment, said the CEO.

Meeting with Michael Punke, vice president for public policy at Amazon Web Services, Chinh asked Amazon to further support Vietnam’s digital transformation, apply cloud computing technology, and build solutions to ensure network security.

He proposed that Amazon increase cooperation with Vietnamese businesses, including the National Innovation Center, in order to promote cross-border export activities and build Vietnamese brands on Amazon’s electronic platform.

Punke said Amazon Web Services has opened offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. It is focusing on supporting Vietnamese businesses in the banking, finance, telecommunications and manufacturing industries with cloud computing services to rev up digital transformation.

Amazon wishes to join the Vietnamese Government in building a policy on the use of cloud computing, he said.

Punke also recommended that Vietnam have more open policies, encourage businesses in the field of digital commerce and new services such as database/cloud computing and support cross-border data.

At a meeting with Jane Sun, CEO of Trip.com, Chinh briefed his guest on Vietnam’s tourism development policy and expected that Trip.com would expand its operation in the country.

He proposed that the firm prioritize supporting Vietnamese businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, in engaging in its network to reach customers globally.

He also proposed that Trip.com help Vietnamese businesses strengthen innovation and apply modern technology to bring about high quality tourism products and services that meet international standards.

Sun for her part highly appreciated Vietnam’s tourism advantages, saying the country has a network of world heritage sites, historical sites, beautiful natural landscapes, distinctive culture and cuisine.

She recommended that Vietnam further develop infrastructure, introduce more favourable visa policies for foreign visitors, and train human resources to support tourism services.
