The 31st Golden Racket table tennis tournament opened on July 15 at Nguyen Du Gymnasium in Ho Chi Minh City.
The four-day event, which is one of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) tournaments, is co-hosted by the municipal Department of Culture and Sports and the city’s Table Tennis Federation.
It draws nearly 100 players from six countries and territories including Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, Hong Kong and Taiwan of China and Vietnam.
The five teams representing the host country include the Cement Hoang Thach, Military Club, Hoa Lu (HCM City), Petrosetco HCM City Club and Hanoi National Sport Training Centre.
They will compete with their international rivals for medals in the men’s and women’s singles and team events.
The winners of the event will receive prizes worth 300 million VND in total, an increase of 100 million VND compared to the previous year.
