Beyond the breathtaking scenery, a journey to this highland village reveals the traditions, people and everyday life of the Dao and Tay communities in the Tay Con Linh mountains.
As the harvest season arrives, terraced rice fields in Khuoi My, part of Ha Giang 1 Ward in Tuyen Quang Province, glow golden across the mountain slopes.
A trip to this highland destination offers more than a chance to capture the beauty of the rice harvest. It also opens a window into local culture and the peaceful rhythms of mountain life.

Khuoi My is home to more than 150 households belonging to the Dao and Tay ethnic communities.
The road leading to the village has been paved with concrete. Although it remains narrow and steep in places, the journey is now much easier than before.
Smaller concrete lanes branch off the main road, gradually bringing modern infrastructure into the mountain community.
Yet beyond these new roads, Khuoi My retains its original charm: peaceful, unpretentious and deeply rooted in the traditions of its Dao and Tay residents.

As autumn draws to a close, rice across Khuoi My's terraced fields begins to ripen.
Looking down from the road into the village, visitors can see row upon row of terraces following the mountain contours, forming golden ribbons that curve around traditional homes.
This is also when Khuoi My attracts visitors eager to admire and photograph the harvest landscape.

Since 2016, recognizing the tourism potential of their hometown, Khuoi My residents have begun converting traditional stilt houses into homestays to welcome visitors.
To develop tourism more professionally, villagers have traveled to other localities to learn about community-based tourism, from welcoming guests and introducing local landscapes and ethnic traditions to preparing and serving traditional dishes.
They have gradually applied these experiences to their own homes, creating accommodations that reflect Khuoi My's distinctive cultural identity.
