On March 11, the Dong Nai People’s Committee said the Government Office had issued an official document regarding the extension of the metro line under an urgent directive.

Earlier, Dong Nai authorities proposed extending the metro route from Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien to the province’s new administrative center and Long Thanh airport in order to strengthen transportation links between the province and Ho Chi Minh City.

After reviewing the proposal, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha assigned the Dong Nai People’s Committee, together with relevant agencies, to organize the implementation in accordance with government instructions.

Dong Nai authorities have also been tasked with coordinating with ministries and agencies such as the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Finance and other relevant units to study and propose special mechanisms for implementing the project if necessary.

These proposals will then be reported to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision.

The planned extension of the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro line is expected to strengthen transport connectivity between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai, particularly linking the province’s new administrative center with Long Thanh International Airport.

The project is also expected to reduce pressure on road traffic while contributing to socio-economic development across the region.
