Member of the Parliamentary Committee on National Defense and Security Nguyen Mai Bo said that the governmental bodies must not dodge the truth in the fight against corruption.

Speaking at the committee’s seventh working session on September 5 on the government’s corruption prevention, Mr. Bo added inspectors’ activities with a tumultuous welcome at companies proved effective less than an articles on newspaper. Such comparison must be presented to the public to show effectiveness in fighting corruption.
Since the begining of the year to September, the country has wasted VND1,351 billion ($59.4 million) on corruption ; of which the governmental bodies has recovered VND158.8 billion, $314,000, four houses and one apartment.
As per the government inspector’s report in 2017, the investigating bodies in the public security sector have investigated 3, 622 state agencies, 22 have been discovered to publicize what they need to. Partial transparency is seen in some agencies. Moreover, these violating agencies caused difficulties for enterprises and residents in accessing the information while the need for transparency is taken much more seriously than earlier.
Over 1.1 employees in ministries, administrative agencies in 2016 publicized their property accounting for 99.8 percent. 77 of them are working in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, agencies in Hanoi, the northern province of Yen Bai and the southern province of Dong Nai.
Through investigation, anti-corruption committee issued penalties on three people who cheated in writing their assets and income.
Also according to inspector’s report on handling heads’ responsibility with a prevalence of corruption, in 2017, 25 irresponsible heads have been disciplined for allowing corruption to occur including nine people in the Mekong delta province of Kien Giang, four in An Giang Province, three in Hau Giang and two from the Ministry of Finance.
The handling of heads’ responsibility of corrupted units has promoted the role and responsibility of the heads of agencies and organizations on corruption prevention in their bodies.
Furthermore, through inspections and resolving denunciations under the inspectorate branch, 76 cases with 141 individuals have been detected to involve in corruption.
Additionally, of 128 new corruption cases the General Department of Civil Judgment Enforcement has processed (equivalent to amount of over VND5.1 trillion), 86 cases have been resolved ( equal to over VND1 trillion).
Mr. Bo showed his disappointment to a report of BOT (build-operate-transfer ) projects which did not point out the responsibility of any agencies or leaders.
Deputy head of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Ngo Sach Thuc suggested to popularize the inspection work and bidding result so that residents can supervise corruption prevention task.
