Gov’t Inspector General Le Minh Khai speaks at the Q&A session

Speaking at a question and answer (Q&A) session on October 30 in the framework of the on-going sixth plenum of the14th NA, Khai stressed that with the great determination of these agencies, corruption has been prevented and tends to decline.

He, however, noted that the situation is still complicated, emphasising the need to continue strongly promoting the work in the coming time.

The Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and the Government are determined to step up the fight against corruption with many solutions, focusing on popularization work so that the people and the entire political system, especially cadres and civil servants, are well aware of the Anti-corruption Law and relevant laws, Khai said.

Attention will also be given to perfecting comprehensively the national legal system and ensuring the control over all activities, especially in State management, he added.

Amendments and adjustments to the Anti-corruption Law should be urgently completed and submitted to the 14th NA for approval in this plenum, he said.

He voiced that it is also necessary to mobilise the entire political system, including the people and press agencies, to engage in the inspection, supervision and detection, thus minimizing corruption cases, contributing to cleaning up the State apparatus and promoting the national socio-economic development.

In his reply to question of NA deputy Ngo Duy Hieu from Hanoi on breakthrough measures to resolve citizens' complaints, Khai affirmed the reception of citizens and settlement of complaints and denunciations are very important.

In 2018, the Government has taken measures to push the work, and directed authorities at all levels to do so, he noted.

He stressed that with the function of State management on receiving citizens and settling complaints and denunciations, the Government Inspectorate has given advice and proposed many solutions to better the work.

The current breakthrough solution is how to thoroughly resolve complaints of people at the grassroots levels, so it is necessary to enhance coordination between central and local agencies in the work, Khai said.

NA deputy Phan Viet Cuong from the central province of Quang Nam mentioned a fact that a number of chairpersons of provinces and districts hesitate to receive the people.

He suggested application of high technology in the work, saying that all the reception offices at provincial and district levels can be connected to the Government Inspectorate for monitoring and handling.

NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan also asked Khai to acquire Cuong’s opinions, towards bettering the reception of citizens and settlement of their complaints and denunciations.-VNA
