Two overseas Vietnamese who were winners of the Grammy and Emmy Awards will hold two special music shows in Ho Chi Minh City.

Vo Van Anh, or Vanessa Vo, composer of the 2009 Emmy Award-winning soundtrack, will perform on January 16.
Anh Van is well-known for her work on “dan tranh” zither. She is also able to perform as soloist on “dan bau” (monochord), the 36-string hammered dulcimer, the T'rung bamboo xylophone, the klong put, and traditional drums.
Meanwhile, trumpeter Cuong Vu, member of Pat Metheny Group jazz group, two-time Grammy winner in 2003 and 2006 for the Best Temporary Jazz Album, will hold the “Cuong Vu Trio Live” on January 18. His trio consists of bassist Stomu Takeishi and drummer Ted Poor.
Cuong is a associate professor and chair of Jazz Studies at the US University of Washington.
The shows will take place at the Soul Live Project, No. 216, Pasteur Street, in the city’s District 3 and tickets are being sold online.-VNA
