Starting August 6, the Quang Ninh Provincial Military Command has deployed a medical vessel and two high-speed patrol boats to maintain round-the-clock surveillance across Ha Long Bay, aiming to strengthen safety measures for tourists.

These vessels patrol daily from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. along popular tourist routes, including a stationed vessel near Ti Top Island. From 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. the following day, mobile patrol units return to Tuan Chau Island, where they remain on standby to ensure 24-hour readiness.

Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Son, Deputy Commander of the Quang Ninh Military Command, stated that each shift includes 6 to 8 personnel, with dedicated communication and medical teams equipped with four stretchers, oxygen tanks, and fire extinguishers - prepared for immediate search and rescue missions when emergencies arise on the bay.

The main goal of increasing patrol presence is to ensure tourist safety and instill confidence among visitors exploring Ha Long Bay, one of Vietnam’s most iconic UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Alongside the military patrols, local authorities are intensifying inspections of port safety conditions. Multiple task forces have been assigned to conduct seamless patrols across key routes, working closely with port authorities.

The Department of Construction has also launched surprise inspections to enforce waterway safety regulations, especially at tourist docking points.

Security and surveillance efforts have been strictly implemented to guarantee tourist safety as the province continues promoting new high-end tourism products and services. These include premium travel packages targeting the luxury segment to leverage the bay’s unique potential.

Currently, about 500 licensed tourist boats operate in Ha Long Bay, nearly 200 of which offer overnight accommodations.

In tandem with safety measures, Quang Ninh Province has been enhancing the quality of tour boat services, upgrading operational management, and standardizing staff conduct and service attitudes.

As part of its international outreach, Quang Ninh continues promoting the bay’s appeal abroad, recently highlighting Ha Long in South Korea with the message: “One destination – Two heritages.”
