The Department of Information and Communications of Quang Ninh Province has informed the local government agencies of the attack by hackers to the state mail addresses of the provincial public servants.

Hackers forged e-mail addresses similar to the domain name of the internal emails to send malicious codes to the users in the system.

The malicious codes are often sent as compressed files .rar, .zip ... which containexecutable files and trick the system administrator, asking users to have access to a site designed by hackers to upgrade mailboxes or change passwords.

After users access these sites, their computers are infected with malicious codes. Hackers will use stolen email accounts to send fake messages to other addresses to spread viruses.

According to the Center for Information Technology – Communication of Quang Ninh, the e-mail system of local state agencies has been upgraded and equipped with a filtering system to block spam, phishing, and all kinds of malicious codes.
