The cosmetics seized by the inspectors.

The cosmetics were discovered when the police and market watch inspectors made an unexpected check at a cosmetics shop in Phù Liễn Ward, Kiến An District.

Owner of the shop, Đỗ Văn Vương, 34, failed to show any certificates for the goods, including shampoo, body lotion and shower cream.

Deputy director Long said that the problem of trading cosmetics of unclear origin in the city has recently been on the rise.

The market watch joined hands with concerned organisations to strengthen inspection and discovered a lot of violations, he said.

On August 2, the market watch checked a store on No 15 Hàng Kênh Street in Lê Chân District and discovered a great number of cosmetics with an unclear origin.

Five days later, the inspectors seized 54 kinds of cosmetics in a store on Hai Bà Trưng Street in Lê Chân District. The owner of the store said that he had bought the goods from the Móng Cái Market in the northern province of Quảng Ninh, but did not possess any certificates.

All of the goods were culled according to regulations. — VNS
