According to the city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, an official dispatch has been sent to the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, urging intervention to correct inaccurate listings on the digital map platform.

The issue emerged after media reports and public feedback revealed multiple locations in Ninh Giang commune using the name “Den Quan Lon Tuan Tranh,” despite only one site being officially recognized as a national relic. The confusion has led many visitors to mistakenly perform rituals and make offerings at unauthorized locations.

A field inspection confirmed that two private properties owned by Ha Thi Thoa and Nguyen Quang Du in Zone 2 of Ninh Giang commune had erected structures labeled as temples dedicated to Quan Lon Tuan Tranh.

These sites, however, have not been granted construction or religious operation permits by competent authorities. They are also not included in the official inventory of cultural heritage sites under Decision No. 2403/QD-UBND dated June 25, 2025, issued by the former Hai Duong provincial authority, now under Hai Phong administration. As such, they do not qualify as recognized heritage sites under Vietnam’s Law on Cultural Heritage.

In contrast, the only legitimate Den Tranh is located in Tranh Xuyen hamlet, Ninh Giang commune. The site, dedicated to Quan Lon Tuan Tranh, was officially designated a national relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2009.

In addition, the Den Tranh Festival was inscribed on the national list of intangible cultural heritage in 2022, further affirming its cultural and historical significance.

Despite this, the unauthorized sites continue to appear on Google Maps, contributing to ongoing confusion among both locals and tourists.

Acting on instructions from the Hai Phong People’s Committee, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has called for the removal of these misleading listings to ensure accurate information and protect the integrity of the national heritage site.
