Hà Nội Bus Station Joint Stock Company plans to put on additional coach trips at the city’s bus stations to meet the high demand of passengers during the Hùng King anniversary holiday (April 14), National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1).

Passenger numbers are expected to increase sharply during the holidays but will focus on a number of localities, especially in areas with tourism sites like Phú Thọ, Quảng Ninh, Nam Định, Thanh Hóa, Lào Cai and Điện Biên, said Nguyễn Anh Toàn, the company’s director.

The company plans to put on additional coach trips at the city’s bus stations during the holidays, he said. Specifically, about 1,150 coach trips will be operated per day at Giáp Bát Bus Station to serve the needs of passengers, which are expected to be 200 to 300 per cent higher than normal.

Similarly, 1,200 and 870 bus trips will be added each day at Mỹ Đình and Gia Lâm bus stations.

Vietnamese people will enjoy a three-day public holiday from April 13 to April 15 on Hùng King anniversary and a five-day public holiday from April 27 to May 1 in celebration of Reunification Day and International Labour Day. The peak period will be from the afternoon of April 12 to noon April 13 and from the afternoon of April 26 to the end of April 27.

To ensure traffic order and security, the company also ordered bus stations and their staff to closely supervise coaches to curb overloading and overcharging of passengers.

The company also planned to co-ordinate with local police and transport inspectors to prevent illegal transport of explosives, banned or fake goods as well as dealing with crimes like gambling or illegally picking up passengers. — VNS
