Hanoi authorities have announced a list of 74 sites which violate fire safety regulations.

The move followed the city’s inspection on 1,545 works, including many apartment buildings, from February 22-28 this year.

The list includes GP Invest Building and apartment buildings HH1 and HH2 by Vietnam Mechanical Electrical Joint Stock Company in Dong Da District; building 24 T3 by Thanh Xuan Development Joint Stock Company and Zen Tower by Number 8 Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company.

Lots of apartment buildings, nursery schools and shopping centres were also named including Steamford, Nang Mai and Hoa My nursery schools and apartment buildings on Nguyen Trai Street and Thuong Dinh Street in Thanh Xuan District.

According to municipal authorities, the most common violations involved in lacking fire safety equipment or having substandard fire safety equipment. Many sites have not yet received fire safety approval but are already operational. Some others have not held fire drills.

Last year, Hanoi published the names of violating developments. Major developers such as the Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company and Song Da Construction and Service Joint Stock Company were named and shamed.

Up to 892 karaoke bars in Hanoi were temporarily suspended due to failing fire safety regulations.

In 2017, 353 karaoke bars in Hanoi were fined a total VND870 million (USD39,545) for fire safety violations.
