A xà cừ tree was uprooted at Chu Van An School in Hanoi last week.

He called for collaboration between the municipal Department of Education and Training, People’s Committees at district and town levels, the Hanoi Green Tree Park Company and relevant units to set up plans to trim tree branches and protect trees.

The requirement was made following a serious accident when a tree fell at the Chu Van An High School.

On March 31, strong winds and heavy rain led to the collapse of 30m xà cừ tree (African mahoganies or Khaya senegalensis) with root diameter of up to 1.5m.

Nguyen Gia Linh, a grade 10 student, broke her left arm and leg, and is currently being treated at the Viet Nam-Germany Hospital.

Three other students, also from grade 10, received minor injuries.
