Hanoi has found itself under a blanket of heavy fog for the past three days. This has caused many difficulties for local people as they go about their daily lives and traffic in the city.
As the fog spreads across the capital city early in the morning, it becomes denser. Due to the thickness of the fog and the reduced visibility, many vehicles are forced to move slower when travelling on the streets of Hanoi. At 8am on March 19, many motorbikes had to resort to using their headlights to see the road clearly. The fog and humidity have been forecast to last several days. The fog has also spread over Chuong Duong and Long Bien bridges. From street level the tops of many buildings cannot be seen. The city’s skyline is covered by fog.
