It is a part of the S Dance Tour, a new project launched by choreographer Minh, Kham Pha (Discovery) Contemporary Dance Company and the Dong Tay Promotion entertainment company.

The project targets young people who are interested in dancing and gathers contestants from So You Think You Can Dance, the televised dance competition produced by Dong Tay Company. Its first season was broadcast in 2012.

The performance will feature dancers whose talents were discovered in the contest including Do  Hai Anh, winner of the fourth season, which took place last year.

“The letter ‘S’ in the project’s name symbolises the form of the country,” Minh said. “I expect the dance tour to travel along the country and attract many young dancers nationwide.”

The project will be in HCM City with a performance on April 9 at Ben Thanh Theatre.

Before the performances, Minh and the Kham Pha dance company will organise a series of activities to attract the audience, organise a flash mob with a record number of participants, and teach anyone interested, to dance.

“I do not want the audience to only sit and enjoy the performance, I want them to stand up, interact with the dancers and join the performance,” Minh said.

“The performance will include hip-hop, contemporary dance, dance sport and folk dance that is suitable for the tastes of various audiences,” he said.

Minh also added that S Dance Tour will be brought to more cities and provinces to bring dancing closer to the public and get more young people engaged in this art.
