Hanoi authorities warn the risk of Covid outbreaks during Christmas and year-end events.

The Hanoi authorities have also asked the health department to design policies to mobilize the participation of retired health workers and medical students in the fight against Covid-19.

Grassroots authorities were told to keep a close watch on the pandemic situation, improve healthcare systems and raise awareness over Covid-19 infection prevention among residents.

Wards, towns and communes should quickly apply home-based care and treatment for Covid-19 patients with no or mild symptoms to ease the overload facing hospitals, while quarantining those who come into close contact with positive cases at home.

The number of locally transmitted cases in the capital city reached nearly 900 cases on December 12 and 762 cases on December 13.

From October 11 to December 13, Hanoi recorded over 15,000 Covid-19 infection cases. The city has 37 areas under lockdown and nine Covid-19 clusters.

The city has so far prepared 32 hospitals and 27 mobile medical stations with the capacity to treat 100,000 cases.
