Hanoi inspectors reviewed 9,318 constructions and discovered 606 violations

Hanoi People's Committee has submitted a report to the city people's council. According to the report, many inspectors were irresponsible in their line of work which results in lax management and violations.

From October 2017 to May 2018, the Department of Construction established a council to examine the responsibilities of the individuals and agencies who violated management regulations. 29 construction inspectors were reprimanded and five were warned. Nine agencies were given warnings over their operations. Ten leaders of agencies were given individual warnings.

In the first six months, Hanoi inspectors reviewed 9,318 constructions and discovered 606 violations. There were 223 unlicensed cases, 139 cases with wrong licenses, incorrect designs or planning, and 212 cases where construction encroached on agricultural land or badly affected the surrounding buildings.

The number of violations, however, was down 50.6% compared to the same period last year.
